When phoning around for Zebra Plecs today, i was told by a couple of different shops that there is a ban on importing Zebras now.
Has anybody else heard of this and why is there a ban ?
Andy.

Thanks McEve
If they build a Dam on their river, there won't be many Zebras left to export !

It is amazing that I missed this discussion!
It was already known to me that the Hypancistrus zebra was placed on the list of endangered animals of IBAMA (the Brazilian Wildlife Protection Organization) in the beginning of 2004.
This was in fact my motivation to start breeding with my zebra's, which I obtained in 2002, when they weren't still endangered.
I would like to encourage everybody not to try to obtain more wild zebra's, but instead try everything that is possible to breed them, or to buy only from breeders.
Please give me some time to look up this list.
By the way, I speak the Portuguese of Brazil. If you want some help to understand Portuguese text, let me know.
