Does anyone keep any sort of shrimp with their zebs. We have just got cherry, Amano, Rock, and tiger shrimp in at work. I wanted to introduce some so help clear the bottom of the tank (which gets quite mucky due to overfeeding). I perposely overfeed to ensure the zebs eat as much as they can and then try to siphon out any left overs in the morning. Also what about pygmy corydoras for the same reason?
Cheers

Personal opinion?
Cories are too competitive for food, Shrimps do an excellent job of picking up after the zebras and they are much less ocmpetitive to the zebras. I have amano's in my zebra tank and not only do they pick up the scraps but they eat algae too!

I said shrimp although i haven't yet found a shrimp that lived for long enough to be very helpful.
Any suggestions? I tried ghost shrimp but my LFS sells them as feeders so they didnt live long.

hi
where is the "i clean my tank myself" option ??
Animals are never cleaning staff. put some snails into your tank to eat the food thats left on the ground and everything is fine. if you want to have a nice tank with healthy fishes, clean it yourself
p.s.: my opinion

I would vote against feeder ghost shrimp, those tanks are really nasty and they could be disease ridden.
Amano shrimp live a bit longer and are great workers.

does anyone know the average lifespan of the amano shrimp? As far as cleaning goes, i am constantly cleaning gravel, glass, plants etc as does any other responsible fishkeeper. I am not getting shrimps or corys in the hope that i will then be able to do less cleaning, just merely to cut down on the amount of uneaten foods as my zebs are well overfed to ensure they eat as much as they want/can.
Cheers for help once again guys
