SmithRC well some would have said I was the  so that would make me PP :D but hey just followed the mission statement on that one.
I am just really pleased for both yourself, Zerberdy? and everyone else that has made the breeding of this beautiful fish a priority.
Well done :!:

Well - I'm just about to buy both the tanks, new filters :)
and I'm working on an auto water change system too :)

I want these little guys to get a bit more TLC that they currently get

Thats right the pumpkin
Sounds like you are adding some new technology to your tanks- just make sure you get a good flow rate with your filters- loosing two of my three zebras when I swapped to a filter with a lower flow rate than I had thought still is the worst day of my fishkeeping life

Quick Update...

We've got the new filters up and running now - they have been on for about 4 weeks and no ill effects :)

The beta tank still hasn't produced a spawn :(
The last spawn from the Alpha tank is doing well though... :)

Should be about due for another alpha spawn soon.

I will be really interested in what happens with your second group I am about to split a second group from the colony how many should I move I have a really pretty beta male 'Yoshi' I was thinking of him being the new group alpha and add a couple of younger males and females(?) what do you think I feel really cautious about it

well...

I've been getting itchy feet lately, we've not had a spawn in either tank since splitting up the group and adding the new filters...

Well, on Thursday night I left for Cornwall - with 2 zebs in a cave - finally.

Checked when I got home last night and we finally have a spawn again in the alpha tank - they have moved cave though so I don't think the liked the change in flow directing the new filter added.

I'll be giving the beta tank a change around soon to see if i can get a spawn from them too :)

Update time folks :)

Over the weekend I sold My fist group of Zeb fry - Joby is now the proud owner of 2 of out older fry (1 at about a year and the rest at about 8 mounts old - judging by size)

Fingers crossed they will settle in great and we'll be following the trials and tribulations of my first F1 group :)

Meanwhile - Back in the alpha tank, the latest wigglers are coming out the cave for their first swim about :) we've also got about 12 young fry in there that are actually growing quite well and must be getting on for 1" (TL).

The female in the beta tank is looking quite plump too - but the male is showing amsolutly no interest - he hasnt even taken a cave - the female has resorted to hanging around the entrance of caves - I think she is trying to give him the idea... but he just aint getting it!

I've re arranged teh tank over the weekend (as we had to to get teh fry out for Joanne :D)

so maybe they will get it together!.

Fingers crossed the male will get the message, not like she's not dropping enough hints hanging round the cave

Was quite an honour to see your tanks and all those lovely little zebs :luw: :luw:

Don't be daft :)

It was good to talk to someone like minded and interested :)

keep your eyes peeled for a thread in the summer about swapping "fry"...
There are quite a few of us that are planning to swap bloodlines so if your not too attached to them by then - you might want to swap a couple to get new blood into the group :)
