surly a 31l with good filtration (at least x10 the 31l per hour) would be ok?
your contradicting yourself!

If you dont want to risk them... DONT!

I, like McEve have a dedicated 120L tank for them - It was set up for them - tested on a group of L129s until I got the true zebs.

If youv'e got he tank - set it up and get it running. why mess about with a 31L tank and a £150 fish if you have the 180L tank??

Get it cycled using media from your other tank and add some suitable mid swimming fish to keep it going - It'll only take a couple of hours to get it going and be ready for fish (not the zeb though please) runit for a few days to get it settled and give a shot buy moving some of your other plecs across for a while. then when your happy its stable - swap them back out and add the zeb.

Please dont mess about - you said you wanted to do it properly.

hi, i'm not contradicting myself, i'm asking advice and learning but appreciate your bluntness.
thats why i'm on here to get advice from experienced people like yourself before i take the zeb on and hopefully start my breeding project.
if i wasn't asking questions then i would have got the zeb and had to learn by my mistakes and with the fish at the price they are and all i agree thats not a good idea.
i understand what your saying and yes that would probably be the best way, but i do feel 180l tank for 1 fish is a bit of a over kill!
because i do have a lack of space at the moment and the fact i am only getting the 1 zeb at this time i was just asking what would be a acceptable tank size that i could house the 1st few i get or acceptable size for a small breeding group, say about 4 or 5 zebs?

thanks

i think the absolute min for that many or any zebra is a 20g/75L with the long footprint.

great tank for the job - have a look for 2nd hand - I picked up one of those for £30 with everything included with extra filter and meds and stuff. (not a stand)

Footprint refers to the size of the footprint the tank takes up...
eg in that case 80cm x 35cm
