My alpha male had barely evicted the last batch of fry over the past week and danged if there are not another batch of wigglers in their already. Santa or somebody up there must be sniling really hard on that tank.
Since I did the fry hunt and counted about 75 assorted size fry total, there have been 3 more spawns. Counting the one from the group right before I bought them, there have been 14 spawns in 9 months and my best guestimate is they yielded about 135 hatchlings- there were 17 confirmed deaths and likely another dozen likely preished without a trace.
I never in my wildest dreams thought this was possible and wish I could claim some special skill or technique was involved. But alas all I did was get great stock, put them in a decent tank and then give them clean water and good food. And, of course, I did everything Barbie suggested.
I am now up to 3 tanks completely devoted to making and raising zebra fry and it looks like I may have to make it 4 pretty soon.
My holiday wish for all is that in the new year all your zebras become as prolific as mine have been and moreso.
