observing young

i recently picked up a few zebra plecos and have been keeping a clos eye on them. i have noticed that all but one likes to spend it's time inside a cave and the one chills above the cave which has a slate canopy over it.
is it too early to observe them? the ones in the cave are the bigger ones ranging about 1.25-1.5", the one up top is about an inch. im hoping its too soon to observe them as such cause that would mean i only have one female.
any opinions or such is appreciated.
