The species is L201, Hypancistrus Inspector, Orinoco River.
They have been bred in captivity.
I am growing 6 on, I'll attempt to breed early next year.

hmmmm
you could be right
Can't say for not sure but the pleco shown on exoticfinds in photo does not have the Froggy like inspector trademark eyes as seen in the pics on Planetcatfish.

Take back the inspector, just been to look at them.
Maybe L142 as suggested, also L274 a possibility.

Interesting... I was browsing his website and noticed the same thing. Are we looking at 3 seperate species here? This is what I thought was an LDA33 that I purchased from my LFS about a year ago. Note the white spots on the top and bottom of the caudal fin:
This (image from McEve) is similar to the other fish I ordered from Exoticfinds last year. I do not think it is the same fish as the one I bought at my LFS last year. They are both in my tank and very different.
This is the "new spotted hypancistrus" from Exoticfinds. The others look like baryancistrus, this definitely does not.
Hmmmm.... Almost makes we want to order one so I can see all 3.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Pacific

The two top ones are Baryancistrus, no doubt. The Hypancistrus looks very interesting and beatiful! My hubby would have ordered some of those straight away as he likes the black with white dots. Unfortunately Baryancistrus needs to get too big before they are grown up and can spawn. I don't think too many people have spawned Baryancistrus at all actually.
What I'm trying to say is, if it was me (or hubby

) we'd order that Hypancistrus right away for sure!

Has anyone come up with new info on these guys since last summer ?
I've got 6 coming this week .
I'm planning on keeping them in a 55 with good current , bare bottom , with lots of caves , wood , anubias and java fern .
Tank is painted black on 3 sides and bottom .
Any other suggestions ?

Beautiful plecs that's for sure! I prefer the stripey variety though!

My snowballs and starlights do me well for spots!
