Eheim vacum gravel cleaner

has any body bought or used the eheim vacum gravel cleaner , as i was thinking off buying one to clean my two tanks, and was wondering if anybody could give me some advice on it wether its any good or not?

No idea on performance but one thing I know is that they carry a hefty price tag, about £60. They do look good though, let us know how you get on if you get one.

Check Ebay as they sometimes appear there second hand.

I got one about 2 years ago, and it's the same as the one on e-bay. It's pretty good, but not at picking up anything of any weight, i.r. an old leaf , or chunk of corgette!!!
The only thing I would suggest is that you don't use the "tooth" attachment on the bottom, as it really does reduce the power for cleaning gravel , sand etc. it lifts thing off the top well but thats about it!!(it can just be pulled out)
Once the tooth bit is removed it seems to work better, just keep an eye on yer sand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are going to go for a vacuum, go for the eheim. I went for a cheaper, £20 model and i killed it in a couple of weeks. It only had a working depth of about one foot which is not much cop in a 18" deep tank!!

hmmmmmmmm its gone up too £25 now doesnt seem that much off a bargain for a second hand item

Its £30 pounds now by the time i put £5 on for postage i think i might be better off buying a new one unless rob sells me his one for a £1
