lol - possibly!
I couldn't work out who had who trapped before we went away...
Could it be possible that the "alpha" female hadn't finished laying eggs last time? the last lot were layed on the 10 May... this batch just over 2 weeks later...?

I'm wondering if I imagined the 4th lot of eggs...
If there were some they have gone
All the zebs except the guarding male are on their own again so I'm none the wiser as to whats been going on.
well its time for a photo update of the first fry - they are doing great...
they are now 138 days old (just under 20 weeks - about 4 months and 2 weeks old)
They are approx 1" SL too - I'm well chuffed

Ok, I'll have a go. It's one female and one male.
There's a 25% chanse I'm correct!

You mean female on the left and male on the right?

I think the chance on sexing fish of the same batch will give you a better chance then 25%, even if they are quite young.

I know there's a fairly large community over in Germany, with breeders that have a long experience by now. I think you also speak German?

What is it that you have found out over there?

There are breeders in Germany that sex immature fish around 4 cm. by comparing.
They compare within the batch.
They do this just on eye sight and it is supposed to be 80-90% accurate.
Ofcourse this is only possible within the same batch that grew up together under the same circumstances.
Comparing with another batch that hatched the same day wouldn't give good results.
Sexing a single fish of that age would be impossible.
My thought was if a digital camera was used it maybe was possible to sex fish this way (comparing within a batch) at 3cm. by using blown up digital images.
Again, all this is just a thought.

That's interesting. I know they are very good over there, having done this a long time. It would be very useful to be able to tell the sexes apart at an earlier age, for both breeders and buyers.
Have they followed the fish so that they know it turned out to be correct? Have they come to F2's?

Yes, supposed to be 80-90% accurate

Think there must be F3's by now, there were allready F2's 3 year's ago
