Well done Barbie,

Wow I didn't know that L333 produced such large clutches of eggs, imagine if zebras produced that many eggs too. You are fast becoming a plec farmer  .

Congrats.

Well it appears this first spawn is going to be fertile! You can see their spines and eye balls in the eggs already on day 4.

He's eaten a few of the eggs already. No idea if they were fungused or not. It seems like that's normal for hypancistrus. Too bad figuring out a way to "tumble" the eggs and get them to hatch can be such a pain! And Tristan, the answer is yes, plenty!

Barbie, did you open the back door of the cave when you took those pictures? And if yes, he didn't mind?

I was thinking of doing that now that I have modified the caves with a removable back door, but I've lost too many spawns lately due to my experiments and nosey nature, so I thought I'd ask first this time

Seeya when you get here Sid!

McEve nope, just aimed a flashlight in there with one hand, the camera with the other and wasted 10 shots for every one I got that you could see the eggs ;). If I tried to take the back off he'd throw the eggs out. I had the back fall off one once doing a water change, it's a real pain to get everyone reconfigured without squashing the eggs!

Aren't they cute? :) I'll try to take pictures every few days from here on out. I'd heard they were easy to spawn, but never actually talked to anyone that did it. That always makes me wonder who exactly decides which fish are easy ;).
