safe stocking limit

what would you guys say a safe stocking level would be i have 6 smallish zebs in my 30 gallon tank no other fish , what would you say woukld be the maximum amount?(This IS DanThirty)

I would say you would be fine with 6 in a 30, but when it comes to breeding you may have a slight problem with territories.

It all depends on how you arrange the furniture on yer tank.

im going to buy some more zebbys this wednesday and they guy told me that they are big adults i was going to buy 1 or may be 2 but the number is going up the more i think about it , i want to buy 3 or 4 as they are adults but i think i am pushing the limit with the size off my tank which holds 30 gallons the tank has loads off caves all over the place so it is not short off hiding places, if i were to buy 4 more it would take my total too 10 has any body else had this amount in a 30 gallon tank? i hope it would only be a short stay for them in there as in the future i hope to buy a second had 4 footer for them.

How much is 30 gallon in the UK? I get confused by gallons so I'll just tell you how I keep mine

I have 8 adults, 4 of each sex in a 120 Liter tank. It's 80 cm x 40 cm x 40cm, with lots of caves, bog wood and plants.

There's no problems with territorial issues in this tank

1 UK gal=4.55 ltrs. 30 UK gals=136.5 ltrs.

If you provide a lot of hiding places as McEve has done you should be ok.
Just make sure that your filteration is able to handle the additional load.

i am currently using a eheim 2128 cannister filter which says it can handle over 130 gallons so should be ok for filteration. oh and i have loads off hiding places

Guess I should elaborate a bit. It would also depend on how many males that are in the group. Or what do you think? And there would definately need to be lots of caves and hiding places but I understand that's taken care of.

I'ts only 16 liters more than my tank, and It would be too cramped in my tank if I added more fish. Maybe you can use this as the perfect excuse to get another tank in the house Danthirty

Sorry about going a bit back on what I said earlier, but after having thought more about it it I'm no longer so sure .... But, hiding places and layout will make a difference!

PS. glad to see I'm not the only one labeled obsessed anymore
