Akvastabil Tank Condensation Problem
Please can u help! I own an Akvastabil fish tank but condensation dribbles down the side of the tank. I have heard that there is a modification which can be done & u may be able to help. Can u give any information or pictures on what can be done. Many thanx!
Hi Mrs Birdseye
I'm not actually familiar with the type of tank you are talking baout, but i have experienced a similar thing with one of my other tanks. The condensation running down the side of the glass happened due to the tank lid over lapping to the outside of the tank itself.
This meant when the condensation rose to the top of the lid, it ran down the edges and then down the outside of the tank.
Is there anyway you can add an additional condensation tray between teh tank and the hood. ONly a thought, I'm sure someone will come with something in time.
good luck oh and welcome to the forum.

Hi Rob! Thanx 4 your reply
Someone recomended your site as a similar problem was seen on your site before. Apparently the drip tray needs to be filed out a little more, but I don't want to try this until I am sure that this right.
I hope someone will be able to help as my cabinet will have to be replaced because water has got into it.

I know some older AquaStabil tanks had this problem. The new Aqualine series don't have this problem anymore - but I guess that doesn't help you much!
Some people have solved the problem by using a cover glass, other have fitted a rubber self adhesive list (the H-profile type) along the top of the tank, then putting the hood on top of that.
Can you post a picture showing what your hood looks like?

Dont let the drips from your lid get you down.
Just remove the lid and stick DRAFT EXCLUDER (avalable at all hardwares) to the inside edge were the glass would normaly sit.
I use this on all my tanks with no problems.

Thanx for your hints. At the moment I'm in contact with the Akvastabil company to see if they can help me with this problem too.
