When i;m sitting and looking at my tank, i saw something. And i think is was a little baby. Just when i look at it, it move fast away.
Now my im wondering if babys can survive in a tank whit full of fish? I have 17 discus, 70 tetra, 20 stanbai, 4 L260, 2 L169 and 9 L46 in the tank. That is a big tank and lots of rots.
Mayby L46 babys
That's so exciting! I think the other catfish will leave the fry alone, depending on how big it was? Did it have an egg youlk at all? If it did I think it's chanses would be small, but if it was fully free swimming, it might make it? Sounds like you have quite a few hidingplaces, and they can squeeze into very tiny crevices where the larger fish might not be able to get at them.
I still think I would try to catch him and get him to a safer place, if at all possible

It all happen so fast, i saw the little hed betwen a formition in the rots part of the tank. I wonderring if L46 can bredd in a tank with only rots, i have no stone cave. But there is lots of cave and hidding place in the rots.
I have no chans to pic it up, in first i cant find it becuse all rots (they are very big and lots of hidding place, like caves). I have problem to find the big L46, when i shall take they. And i destroy where the all others fish live, in there hidding place.
Im thinking after the summer, to try to cath all my l46 and have in a L46 fish tank. Im going mad if i have babys and the cant surrvive in the big tank.

I know of a spawn in a malawitank, where there was no caves like the ones we use now. He had lots of rocks and they found somewhere inbetween the stones to spawn. So the answer is yes, they candiscusred wrote: I wonderring if L46 can bredd in a tank with only rots, i have no stone cave. But there is lots of cave and hidding place in the rots.
But this is the only one I've ever heard of where they didn't have a cave or pipe provided, so I don't think it happens often!
Hey Discusred,
That's great news about the possible zebra fry .
As McEve said you might want to try and catch the fry if you can, it might just not be possible in a tank of that size though. I had a look at your tank and it looks fantastic, I've always fancied a massive tank. I think that the greater body of water in large tanks provide a more stable environment less susceptible to fluctuations. Is your tank a custom build or is it an off the shelf model?

Thanks Adam,
The tank is custom made from Geremy.
A funny thing whit big tanks, is the fish grow mush faster. I have Corydoras Stanbai and Discus in two tanks from same age and parents. In the tank in 1200 liters there are much bigger than there are in the tank whit 200 liters.
I have se one Zebra fry agian, no i now there is Zebra fry in my tank

That's great news Discusred, so you've actually spotted a zebra fry. Will you be trying to remove it or will you just leave it to take it's chances in the tank?
No need to say anything more in support of large tanks, I've just sent father christmas a fax. All I need to do now is find a big enough stocking.
