I am wondering about filtration on a young 1" group of 5 Zebras, do you need a good flow rate as with the adults or would a sponge filter be fine to run until larger. i will be doing daily waterchanges

Good oxygenation is more important than flow rate. However, for spawning there should be current. You will need some flow across the mouth of spawning caves, The water moves across the opening no into it. For now sponges should be fine.
