Set up found on planetcatfish - what do you think>

Pretty much explains itself really. If you have questions about tank set-ups, tank furniture, (caves etc) chuck them in here!

Set up found on planetcatfish - what do you think>

Post by az1 »

Hi All

Just came across this set up

http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9957

by pleco_farmer.

I think it address some issues for me particularly the size of the tank and achieving a breeding setup in a relatively confined space with simple gear and some piping.

Does anybody have anything similar and what is your result?

Cheers

This is a terrible picture of my zebra spawning tank, but you can get the idea at least. There is a Magnum 350 canister filter running on it, and a sponge prefiltered Rio 1400 with the venturi wide open. The sponge filter that runs into the fry condo probably provides some biofiltration, but I wouldn't expect it's much.

It seems to be a good idea to have LESS decor in the tank, to encourage more squabbling for positions. This makes the females more apt to want into the males caves. I know if mine stop spawning for a time, I do a slight redecoration and move things to provide less cover. Sometimes it's even helpful ;).

I think that setu['s too elaborate. I've got two sponge filters driven by MAxi-jet 400's in a 20 long. I have sand in teh bottom, thinking of removing it. We'll see, WE'll see. It all depends on when SOMEBODY decides they can ship me some fish;)
