Hi there!

Post by MattW »

Hi Everyone,

I have been following the Forum for a few years now.

Have been conditioning 8 zebs over the last 2 years. With the sole intention of breeding these beauties; they truly are stunning fish!

I have a Juwel 125L tank with the standard Internal Filter and 2 additional Eheim Ecco 2236 External filters creating clean water with adequate movement in the tank.

I use general essex tap water (400 hardness) which is left in a water-butt for a good 5 days with Almond Leaves to add tannings and beneficial nutrients into the water before its put into the tank on water change days. water change every other day. approx 3gal each.

My Colony consists of a combination of 3X 'Juveniles' (1.5years. 2") and 4X 'Young adults' (2-3years, 2.5/3") and an Older 'pre-ban' Wild caught Male (5 years. 3.4"); all from different gene pools. uncertain on sexes (apart from larger Male) as they still seem quite small; but some more so than others are currently looking like good females; identification of sex is something i am really not strong on! but fingers crossed!

I feed 5 nights a week. target fed with clamps: Prawn, Courgette. Others: Tetra prima, Copepode flake, Spirulina flake, Hikari carnivor wafers and a few others.

Just love these fish and cant wait to get my 1st spawn! :D
