Post by tonyasz »

Help.. Somebody.. I am searching for (you guessed it) L46 zebra plecos.. I already have 2 but looking to purchase 3 more. I am in oklahoma but willing to pay for shipping... I have heard there are people out there that have them and are willing to sell to a good home.. Well then please consider selling to me. I bought the 2 I have awhile back and am looking for more from a different breeder... Please holler if you are willing to sell.... my email is.. tdels1sharpz@cs.com... thank you very very much!!! :)

Please keep in mind that you are being referred to a seller by a member with one post and no location in their profile ;). Definitely do your homework!

Try the aquabid.com. There is a usa seller trying to sell 5 matures fish with a ratio of 2M/3F. Here is the link. Good Luck! :)

I do not buy or sell on AquaBid and have not for a number of years. However, I do monitor the pleco section to see whats going on with zebra sales- so I saw that auction.

The seller is brand new with a 0/0 rating. If you have followed the zebra listings on AB for any amount of time as well as the forum postings there on this topic, you should be very nervous about bidding.

I have no idea whether the seller is toally legit or a scammer. However a few things would make me nervous about bidding.

1- The auction does not indicate if they are wilds or tank raised.

2- The resereve price has been met and with the current bid at $2,050 (which included shipping). That is $410/fish delivered. overnight shipping would work out to about $80 or more using FedEX or UPS- so the net price per fish is under $400. That seems a bit cheap for zebras of that size, especially for females.

3- The picture provided shows one fish- where are the others?

4- Does anybody know who the seller is? Most of us tend to use the same screen name at all the sites we visits. Has anybody ever run across a user named "Ooiegooie" anywhere else on the net?

I will be most curious to see when the auction closes what the eventual winner reports back as to if they received the fish and if they were as advertised.

I agree TTA... I had sent the seller an e-mail asking questions (about an hour after he posted the auction) and he has yet to answer... will let you all know if he does...

I also sent an e-mail and asked some questions to simply test the seller's knowledge. Nope! I haven't heard anything yet either. :( I will also let you all know if I hear anything back.

I DID get a reply to an e-mail that I sent, inquiring about their size. This was before the size was added on to the listing. I am always nervous about people that do not accept paypal. It may not be the best, but it seems to be one of the safest ways to send money. Just my opinion.

Looks like the highest bidder at the moment is a member here, so there is a good chance this saga continues

I just took a fly through over at AquaBid and stumbled onto this thread about these fish
http://www.aquaboards.com/viewtopic.php?id=2413

I was particular tickled by the post of the site owner which said this about the seller's address:
Their address is the same as "Hot Bodys" - listed under Adult Entertainment if you google the address.
