Zeb attacked!

Post by TDI-line »

I have noticed a slight mark on one of my 2" zebs, basically looks like his midsection has been knawed slightly by one of the others.

The damage is not in the same league as some of the pics i have seen on here, and he/she is carrying on normally.

It is on the midsection and where one of the black stripes is, it has basically been erased.

Should i be adding some treatment for them.

They have not spawned, and most are juvenilles in the tank.

There are 12 zebs in a 120 litre tank running at 29c in hard tap water.

Well s**t happens, if it's just scratched and it's not turning red or growing some fungus he'll recover from it very quick.
Greetings,
John

It is very usual and the fish will recover quickly. There is no need to do anything. The female sometimes get that from mating with male inside of cave. So this is not always a bad sign. :D

just for a little comfort - this is our alpha female after we added an new mature female (yep that's her cave :D) - they went at it over night and the result was "our" female winning but getting battered the other female was re-homed shortly afterwards as I didn't want to push my luck)

She recovered without treatment over the course of a few weeks - just keep the water quality good :)
