Hi all
I am new at plecos and have questions to ask about Juwel set ups for L46s. Unfortunately, where I come from, Juwel tanks are not that common so I hope someone here can help me.
With the rekord 70, the impeller is about 400l per hour. I can change the impeller to 1000 l per hour.
I am wondering whether that is necessary. As far as I know, the Juwel filter is not really powerful. I am thinking of adding another external filter (eheim 2213 or 2026) to the Juwel filter with the 400l/h impeller. Does that make sense or should I just change the impeller to 1000l per hour?
I am thinking of keeping about 2-4 L46 in the Rekord 70 set-up (2 ft).
Juwel Rekord 70 setup for L46
Hello
We know the Juwel quite well here. But I don't have one myself.
1) Dont change the impeller of filter. It is a internal filter, right?
The filter bacteria dont work to well living in a hurricane.
2) To get a little more current, add another powerhead.
3) If you want another filter as a 2213 - you could remove the internal complete (but its not that easy in Juwel aquariums - as far as I know - but it is possible).
4) How much volume has your Juwel filter? 2-4 zebras is not that much for an filter.
5) Personally I always throw every filter away - and place this kind of filter (DIY). : http://www.deters-ing.de/Filtertechnik/Bogenmatte.jpg
Actually i place it in the end of the aquarium from one side to another like here:

I just use an powerhead instead of air.
Cheap, easy and can work for several years - without touching the filter at all! But its not that pretty. But some javafarn or similar makes it betterlooking.
As mentioned before: effect of the pump and the volume/areal of the filter has to fit together. I know how to calculate this, so if you are interested, feel free to ask.
Or you could take a look here: http://www.deters-ing.de/Berechnungen/Berechnungen.htm
Best regards
