Granite caves or slate?

Anything from making a cave, to building a fishroom, this is the place to post.

Granite caves or slate?

Post by paintworx »

Hi All

I was shopping for slate yesterday for caves, and ran into a great deal on granite tiles. Does anyone have any experience with making caves from these? Would I use the polished side inside or out? Or would it matter? ALSO, any opinions on granite caves as opposed to slate?

thx!

I like the look of granite, as opposed to slate. If you could get a deal on granite, go for it. I'm sure zebras don't care if it's the shiny side in or out. It's your preference. The only problem with slate is that it could split, but it's cheap.

I've always wanted to make slate caves, but the cost strayed me away from it.

I'd be bothered about the eggs not sticking in the cave with the shiny side in.
