i read in a few articles that you might want to put the male in a seperate tank and i know that people use fry traps i have no room for seperate tank and fry traps are small i didnt want to risk the outher male trying too kill the fry when they are swimming as this is only my second spawn i do not have much experience and am working off of what i read i just dont want to take any chances in loosing any of them is it wrong in seperating them do you think cheers si

i wouldnt bother if i was you mate, you just risk upsetting them and putting them off spawning. iv never heard of another zebra hurting fry, and im pretty sure dad will look after them just fine. just relax... and enjoy :D

Separating in one tank makes no sence.
You can either leave the fry in the group or separate the fry for some time in a breeder in the tank with the group to make sure they get enough food the first few weeks.
Fry left in the group are supposed to get a better growthrate.
(can't speak out of experience on this one, i am experimenting on it)
Don't be afraid that fry left in the group are gonna be hurt by other adults, they wont.

Good luck!
Greetings,
John

I always leave my fry in the tank with the adults until they are big enough to bother dad in his cave.

I have seen, with my own eyes, a female come out of her cave and eat a wiggler that the male kicked out. I had just gotten a teaspoon to lift it out and put in a catch bin and that's when I saw it happen :o

I agree, adult zebra's will not eat baby zebra's that have stripes, but will/could consume eggs/wigglers if the male kicks them out(again, just because I saw it happen).
