Will the mother eat the young?

Post by Zebrapl3co »

Hi, we all know that the dad will take care of the young, but if the mother was left in the same tank, will she eat the young when they start venturing out of the cave?
My experience with the BN pleco is that the mother do not.

If they are wandering out on their own then they should be fine. The only time I saw a female eat a fry is when the male kicked one out of the cave, looked like an egg with a tail, she swam up and ate it
