and if I can ask a question please, as with L114, how do you tell male or female,
on the picture that the fish out side should be a male, but he has no odontones on his pectoral fins at all. So I guess to sex them then we have to observe they courtship behaviours.
very nice fish, and nice pics.
Not all male L-codes have prominent odontes. We sexed ours by venting. Females have U shaped vents while males have V shaped. Also, when females are mature you will notice the swelling on the sides, under the pectoral fins (see top photo).

Sorry for the lack of updates. We have been busy as our own site, MCHPortal is being updated, reprogrammed and revamped. We are hoping we will be live by February 2008 but until then things will be more than hectic. We will let you know nearer the date, we will upload a full set of photos and a diary for this spawning.
Fry are alive and kicking - they are doing great!

Hi all,

We have now been told the article is not scheduled to be published until June 2008 - it will be in Amazonas for those of you who can speak/read German. Will be a long wait, so we thought we would post a couple of pics of the fry developing:

3 spawns so far and 2 ready to go. The last batch of fry hatched on Christmas day (what a present!!!) All parents and the army of fry are doing fantastic.

Enjoy,

UPDATE:

For all interested, the article in Amazonas has been now published.

Details are as follows: Amazonas, No 18, July - August 2008, - and our particular spawn is on pp. 34-42.

Youngsters from that spawn are about 10+ cm long now.
