I am very Sorry for your loss Ryan.

Your fish may have been a female, its hard to tell the size from the picture & I can't be certain.

I know this can be even harder to take, I once accidentally killed a wild caught fish from cleaning the tank down before I went on holiday, by moving a large piece of bogwood to rearrange the tank.

I think when I refilled the tank this moved the bogwood & trapped the fish between a cave.

I had thought this fish was a female & I had to know for sure, so I pressed on its belly & eggs came out.

I am still kicking myself now, more for the accident that took this poor fishes life.

Take care Steve.

so sorry! sad to lose any fish.
dont know what the dark mark is, may be internal bleeding or infection or tumour? did he go suddenly or had he been ill for a while?
if not sure, I would add some pimafix to make sure any infection in the water is killed (unless you have UV?)
