is terracotta safe for zebs?

my mam has some old broken terracotta plant pots and i was wondering if i could use them in my tank for some extra hiding places...?
just wanted to check there safe first!

I wouldnt risk it just in case they have absorbed any pesticides/fertilizers that they could leach back into the tank

I ahve never used them myself, though I have seen what looked like terracotta in other members photo's

As long as they are new and clean, then terracotta is fine to use...it's inert and won't change the water chemistry at all.

I use them all the time, as long as they are new and cleaned well! I have actually seen baby zebras breed in them. They are made from the tiny flower pot ones and what you do is get two if them and glue them together. On one of the openings you need to crack it open a tiny bit.They usually have a tiny hole on the bottom so i just stick a screw driver inside and turn it around until it cracks off a big enough piece so the zebras can get in! The other hole i usually just silicone it shut. I will take some pics later today!

I've used terracotta. Make sure they're brand new though, as someone said above. You don't know what kinds of chemicals might have been used in them when they had plants in. Plus various funguses, etc.
