Hi! I have a 700l tank (194g): 200 cm (80'') long, 70 cm (28'') wide and 50 cm (20'') high. In September or October I'm going to by 11 zebras (of course I dream about breeding them! ) and I'm wondering which pump to choose to make a strong current in my tank. I'm thinking about Tunze Turbelle Stream pump. I've read that conventional aquarium pumps generate excessively high flow rates in the core area of the water jet, but on the outside of the core area the current is too low. This difference leads to stress for the aquarium inhabitants. TUNZE Steam pump is a new type of circulation pump, which delivers large water volumes at low pressure and low energy costs. It produces a gentle current in harmony with nature without a hard water jet.
I'm thinking about two pumps and really don't know which one to choose to make the best current in my zebra tank:
1) Tunze Trubelle Stream Pump 6100:
For aquariums of 400 - 2000 l (105.6 - 528.3 US gal.)
Output: 4000 - 12000 l/h (1056.6 - 3170 US gal./h)
2) Tunze Trubelle Stream Pump 6200:
For aquariums of 800 - 3000 l (211 - 792 US gal.)
Output: 5000 - 20000l/h (1319 - 5283 US gal./h)
Do You think Tunze Stream pump will be OK for my zebra tank? Which one to choose? Thank You in advance for your help!
Which pump to choose for my 700l (194g) tank?

By ratings, the Stream Pump 6100 sounds best for your size of tank, zebras do like current, but i would be more worried about too much current for the fish with the size of pump you are talking about, incase it stresses the fish.
You are talking about a very high rated pump here, and it may be better to see if you can buy the pump and try it out, and are able to exchange it, if it is too strong or even too weak.
194G is a fair size of tank , are you only going to keep zebras in it ?

Thanks Andrew C for Your help! I was thinking about Trubelle Stream 6100 too (a turnover of around 5,7 to 17,1 times total tank volume per hour). Do You think that Tunze Trubelle Stream 6000 (output: 2500 - 7000 l/h, 660.4 - 1,849.2 US gal/h) will be to weak (a tank turnover rate of 3,6 - 10,0 times an hour)? I really don't want to harm my zebras with too much currentAndrew C wrote:By ratings, the Stream Pump 6100 sounds best for your size of tank, zebras do like current, but i would be more worried about too much current for the fish with the size of pump you are talking about, incase it stresses the fish.
Yes, I'm going to keep only zebras and maybe some small fish like neons, swimming in upper level (but they don't like strong current so I don't know yet). I love zebras and I know they won't rather use so much space but big tank = more stable environment = less nitrates = healthier fish I know it's maybe a little crazy but I like to give all my fish as much space as I can194G is a fair size of tank , are you only going to keep zebras in it ?
Thanks Andrew C for Your great help! I was also thinking about 6100 pump but I wasn't sure. Your words just made i have no doubts now Thanks a lot ones again!Andrew C wrote:The 6100 will be fine and with the water speed adjustment on it, you should be able to set the pump to suit your tank.Piranha wrote:Do You think that Tunze Trubelle Stream 6000 (output: 2500 - 7000 l/h, 660.4 - 1,849.2 US gal/h) will be to weak (a tank turnover rate of 3,6 - 10,0 times an hour)?
