I got 5 zebs and at the size around 3.5cm in 18" x 18" x 15" tank

at the moment i only put a some slate and driftwood for their hidding place.

when will they need the cave?
Is the tank is too small for them when they become adult? the reason i put in the small tank because it will be easier for them to find the food.

Untill what size can i keep them in there?

Thanks.

Hi, tank should be fine, but as they grow the size of the final tank also depends on how many males you have IMHO. I would add a cave or two now as they like to shelter and at some pint one may decide to claim alpha male and take up territory in a cave.
enjoy.

Basically, small/young zebras tend to hang together. As they gain size you will notice they will start to group less and less. Which is about when you might want to add caves. When they are smaller they feel safest in fairly tight spaces and always with as few entrances as possible.

I have a batch I kept for myself which range from about 1.75 to 2.25 inches. They gave lots of cover plus one cave. So far the cave remains unused.

Just use torch to look for the fish today.

2 of them are under the driftwood and the other 3 are on their own hidding place alone.

Is that mean i should consider put in the cave now?

well it cant hurt to put one in even if they dont use it yet. as long as lots of other cover as well then thay can go where they wish.
