Head to Tail?

Post by TwoTankAmin »

It looks like there are eggs in the cave from the recent trapping. One wierd note- two nights ago I took a peek into the cave after lights out. I was most surprised to see the two zebs in there were facing in opposite directions. Up til then I have always seen both with their heads towards the rear of the cave. The thing is I do not think it is possible for these fish to have been able to turn around while inside the cave, so one must have backed in?

Has anybody else ever seen this?

Seems you catched them in full action. I saw this before with mine too.
The female is in the back of the tube, the male follows as you are used to see him, head first. When the female had put some eggs, the male goes out, turns and go backwards in again to fertilize the eggs. Immediately after he goes out again, turns head to the female and go in the tube again.
This goes on all the time of spawning

I just had a really smutty thought
Anyway ... I have not see a trapping like that but I have seen one of my females sat in a cave facing outwards for a short period of time maybe she was in there like that then the male blocked her in?.

Only seen this with my L201 , the female was laying eggs with her head towards the opening of the cave.
Greetings,
John
