After a long hiatus....
My zebras are finally doing something. It's not spawning though. I just pulled my third string male from a cave in front of the secondary male. He probably won't make it through the night. I was doing water changes and feeding and when I shut off the lights I realized I hadn't even looked in the caves in a couple days so I got the flashlight. I'm not sure if it's lucky for him or not. I put him in a grow out tank with 4 juvenile zebras and treated with a broad spectrum antibiotic. His eyes were already hollow though, so I hope it's not too late. He's shredded pretty badly, but not open wounds and bloody like the male last time. Incidentally, it was the victim last time that did the damage this time. Rotten little fish!

Woah! That's kind of weird. My zebras seems to be going nuts in the pass months too. I can't really explain it, but my adults in 3 tanks begins to boot all the juvies out for no reason. I already lost 3 juvies and another 5 almost lost they black stripes. I can't seem to find out what is causing this. I thinking maybe it's due to overcrowding or maybe it's the turn of the season and they are getting agressive with each other.
With mine, I combined my two groups a month ago in order to get someone to spawn. They have been on hiatus for more than a year in the one tank and the female that had been spawning in the other group committed squashicide when she moved a rock off the males cave top somehow. I knew that this type of damage was the risk I was taking. I usually check the caves every few days for anyone shacking up. I didn't have time two days ago, and last night I was frantically doing water changes at midnight, trying to get all my house tanks done before my work week starts again today. I actually had shut all of the tank lights off and realized I still hadn't looked into the zebra caves, so I went back. Thank god I did.
The tank I put him in had just had a large water change. It's at 84 degrees. I added kanamyacin and stress coat, just in case. He did make it through the night, the poor little guy. He's showing signs of hemorrhage but was at least breathing.
