There is only one fish I can say is for sure safe to have in the same tank with zebras and that is discus.

I would never suggest to anybody that they keep zebras with any other plecos. I learned that the hard way years back when I did not know any better and put adult and jusvie zebs with two each L-134, L-333 and L-260. Five zebras went into the tank and 2 came out, the other three died, I presume killed or starved out by the other 6 non zebs.

I can tell about my little expirens whit zebs and whit other hypancistrus.
I have in my maintank.
4 Zebs (6 month old)
4 L199
4 L260 (two coupels)
And 6 "bel monte" i think it is)
even other fish like discus, tetra and corydoras.
And every thing works greats for me.
But what i think, why it works for me. Is, they are in a big tank 1200L and lots of rots and caves. And i feed the Hypancistrus even when the light are out for the night.
Only i are afraid for, is if the L199 and Zebs when they gets adoults there are gonna mix togheter ( i cant the word in english, but make love togheter :D )
But when i get so far, i gona take the L199 out of the tank.
Thats works for me, but i think what TwoTankAmin says is the best.
