Hello from the West Midlands

Post by Joby »

I'm Joanne and been breeding bettas for the last 3 years. Recently decided to stop breeding splendens and try simplex and also to concentrate on my plecs and corys. I have wanted to own zebras since seeing some in Shirley Aquatics 3 years ago but my partner would not allow me to have any as they were £55 each  So I have waited and waited and now I feel I am ready to have a go at owning these beauties :luw:

I have been reading the information on the site with interest and feel I have a grasp of the basics required for them but I wonder if there is anyone within a sensible travelling distance of me in the West Midlands that would be prepared to let me see their set up and talk about how they care for own zebra collection so I can get this right from the beginning

Most importantly I want to know how many I should start off with as I'm sure they love to be in groups but exactly how small can this group be without me needing to re-mortgage the house

A big welcome to the site Joby :).

You'll find lots of tank sets up through out the site if you have a hunt

Hiya Zebfan :)

Look forward to hearing how your 3 zebs settle in once collected :D

Think the chips would be cold by the time they got to Herts

Hi Smithrc,

you will definately get to see them growing up. I have got 7 now including the 3 i got from you. They have all settled in really well. I am waiting on some slate caves that i have ordered off ebay, but let me know as and when you make some more.

I have just been sitting watching them eat..... they are totally adorable.

Had a bit of a refit to their tank and got an external filter put in there today, still running the old filters alongside and have taken some of the old media out of the cycled tanks.

I have now got 5 tanks running!! My house is getting to look like a aquatic shop. I did manage to get my hands on an L236, had a good look through the aqualog and its identical to one marked up as an 236, but evertone on PF disagreed :o

I will post some photos as soon as i have managed to get some decent ones, my digital camera doesnt seem to like taking close ups!!

Thanks again Russell, they are great. And for anyone who is looking to buy any from you i would highly recommend it!! He is a great guy to deal with :D
