Hello from Russia!

Post by ptishoe »

My name's Elena, I am from Moscow, Russia. Actually, it is my husband who is the fish lover, but his English is pretty incomprehensible... :-)
Anyway, I am also quite excited about our tank, esp. the lovely Zebras. So far we've got four ones, unfortunately, four boys (Rob helped us identify them). All our attempts to find a female have been futile, but we keep trying.
If you'd like to take a look at them, here they are - http://cichlidae.km.ru/index.php?option ... ry&catid=4

Hi Elena

Glad you could join us, and welcome to the forum. Hopefully the forum will take off over time and it will be possible to find you a couple of female zebras in the sales and wants.

Hi Elena and welcome to the forum,

Those are some great zebras you have there :D

Hope you find the females you're after, everybody seems to be looking for females.

Do males out number them in the wild?

That's what we are here for to encourage and advise each other on how to be better fish keepers. :)

Удачи и хорошего настроения.

Please don't be I only know a few phrases thanks to a student friend I had who came from Kiev. Hi Alex, hope you made it big in Russia!!

I'm afraid that he learnt far more English from me than I did Russian from him. He always wanted to know the swear words, we use to have some great laughs swearing at each other. Well we were only teenagers so I guess it was funny, I still remember some of his favourites.

Unfotunately I fell out of touch with him years ago, shame really because he use to crack me up.

Пока.

I am afraid now your friend speaks Ukrainian, and Russian has become a foreign language to him too! :-)

Would this have been caused by Perestroika?
