Big Hi from the Netherlands
Big Hi from the Netherlands
Hi all of you zebralovers! I am a 33 years old man from teh Netherlands who only recently (2 months now) started to breed L046. I have a wild caught breeding group of which at the moment 5 pairs breed on a regular basis. I hope that some more pairs will follow their example soon
Hi Eelke,
Wellcome to the forum.
You seem to have mastered the art of breeding !!!!
Maybe you can teach us a thing or two.
Do you have all these Zebras in a large tank or is each pair seperated?
Do you let the Dads look after the eggs and fry till the yolk sac is used up?
How often does each pair breed?
Regards,
Des.

We started deviding the large group into 2 subgroups. Then we just waited for a dominant male to claim the best breedigpipe and waited untill a female joined him. then we took the pipe outof the large tank and put it (with the male and female) in a compartment of their own. This we are repeating every time a couple pairs up. Our more experienced pairs breed about every four weeks, but we will try to shorten that by taking the eggs away from the dad and hatch them ourselves. This is because the male will tend to the eggs and fry for a pretty long time otherwise, which may lengthen the reproductive cycle. But we yet have to start this experiment.Do you have all these Zebras in a large tank or is each pair seperated?

Hi Dr.P, good to see you here as wellHi Eelke. I recognise you from WW Forum. Welcome aboard, glad you found us.
Hi Sid,
I thought we must have had about 30 youngsters or so, but we counted them and some disappeared.....got killed and eaten probably...So we must take some extra precautions in mixing different sized youngsters. We have about 25 now. And some zebra's on eggs. As I posted in another section of this board...we will have an extra 20 females in 2 weeks, adding to our 55 group.....Might be a really productive breeding group.....I keep my fingers crossed.

Hallo Eelke,
Welkom op dit forum.
I am happy to finally meet a fellow Dutchman on this forum. I am already very satisfied with the contacts and knowledge on this forum, but for some practical matters it can be nice to speak to someone that lives in the same country.
I am impressed with your breeding achievements. Nice that you come to add your contribution to this forum.
