Do you know

The lights are dimmed, the fire is blazing in the big old fireplace, your favourite tunes are on in the background, and I'm just about to pour you a big glass of red!!! Let's settle down on the big old leather sofa and have a chat!!

Do you know

Post by Jo's Zebs »

Just a useless question but I want to know.
Is an oil rigg attached to the sea floor like on 4 legs and how, or is it floating on chains attached to the sea floor.
How do they attach it to the sea floor it is so far down

That's what I'd like to know, maybe it's buried under the foliage that grows under the sea :?

They are anchored with cables. I believe its usually 4 and each has is own motor which can be used to shift the rig.
What makes the common person uncommon is common sense.

That's in the first drilling fase when there is only a drilling rig above the well.
When the well is suitable for production a production platform is build and other methods are used, you can read some about those methods here:

I happen to work in the offshore industry :)
