Nice work.
Isn't it great how a change of tanks from one owner to another can trigger plecos.

Thanks guys, am super excited
Male has intensified his fanning so I'm assuming he can feel the fry moving inside the eggs so all looks good

HI
It is interesting to read about people watching their first spawn etc etc. I am still a bit perplexed by this. I have a spawning cave in a secluded spot in a planted 70 gal. I never interfere with the group at all. I can see absolutely nothing. Babies show up regularly ( usually on the back glass). That's it. If I can get them ,I gently net them and put them into a breeder net ( with a foam filter in it..they live in the space between the filter and the filter exit tube. After a few weeks they go into a ten gal with the exact same water. By then you are just feeding them and they grow up..if not so quickly. Before I had the "breeder net method" I would lose them when I moved them out of the main tank. Because of these early losses, I only have 25 or so this. I have seen the big old male about twice in the last 5 months. I may soon just lift out the breeder cave with him in it and give him a rest..and hope that they don't stop breeding forever after I disturb them.

The male was out the cave this morning and no zebra fry hopefully he'll try again soon with the other female

Better time next time Jo,but you will be well pleased you have had eggs after all this time.
Hopefully this was just a test.
I have had this all too many times & only just last week on a zeb spawn & your L173, makes you wonder why sometimes
Fingers crossed for your next spawn in a few weeks.

There are 4 groups all together as thats how I bought 3 of them and the first group I bought young zebs 1" then added 3 adults a year or so later. Its my trio 1 male and 2 female that are spawning
Re: Whoop whoop! zebs spawn at last!
Fingers crossed for you again Jo
I have just come back from being away & had my L173's & zebs on eggs.
You were right with third time lucky!
Yesterday the L173 hatched & I may have a couple or so fry I can't see alot & am just waiting on the zebs as I don't know when the eggs were laid when I came back on Sunday.

Great to hear about the spawns Steve, hope there are more than just a couple 173 fry and that your zebs hatch out ok it just shows what neglect can do
