This afternoon I had just started working on the zebra breeder tank to do the weekly maint and wc. I went for my rubber gloves and as I turned back I notice the zebra who had been parked at the back of an upper story cave was at the mouth. Then I saw him a level below and then he zipped into the wood and rocks.

So I went back to work and decided to shine the flashlight into the cave- there were 8 fresh eggs in there :-) As Gomer said to Sgt. Carter: SURPRISE! SURPRISE!

The dad later returned to the cave and I assume has been tending the brood dutifully.

The bad mews is a couple of days ago the cave was empty- dad out and eggs gone. No way they made it, not enough time

Hi TTA

Sorry to hear the eggs vanished I know the feeling.

I have had 4 spawns so far, two different males two batches of eggs each and they have eaten the lot, is it a matter off being patient. I used the torch on the first three batches once to see if their were eggs and about three to five days later to see if they have hatched,on the second batch I did see wrigglers but when I looked a few days latter all were gone.
The fourth trapping I did not torch at all until two weeks after, same thing nothing.I have three males and two females in a 180 ltr tank any thoughts on this or is it just a waiting game.

Regards Davo
