Fry Hunt

Post by TwoTankAmin »

I did a fry hunt in the breeder tank yesterday afternoon for the first time since the week after Xmas. Here is the report:

The tank is now bare except for the heater. Two males refused to come out of caves and I had to park them in traps. There were no eggs visable that I could see. The good news is all 11 breeders are present and looking very healthy.

The less good news is there were only 39 fry from .5 inch to 1.75 inches in the tank. This was fewer than I had hoped to find but not bad. If my old brain remembers correctly, the total offspring on hand now is about 82 in 4 different tanks.

I will return the smallest fry to the breeder tank and spread the rest out pending shipping for those that are large enough.
