Spawn Alert!!!

Post by andrewcoxon »

hiya guys,

im sorry its been a while since i posted anything but iv been very busy with work and im currently in the process of buying my 1st house ( :D il get to set up as many tanks as i like!! lol).

Anyway little baby nemo is doing well, he is around 1.2cm now and looking like an exact minature copy the parents.

Yesteray when i got up for work i checked the zebra tank first thing as iv noticed my female (Deborah The Zebra :D ) has been hanging around the cave recently and she was trapped again. im pretty excited as now i finally seem to have fixed the problem that kept killing my fry and im hopefull for a successful spawn.

also one of the babies i bought from Hamish as one of my first ever zebras is getting plump and she was 2 years old in april and recently she also has been hanging around the cave which she has never ever done before! perhaps she will be ready soon too!

anyway il keep you all updated on my progress!

all the best,

andrew

Very pleased to hear little nemo is doing well, maybe he's the reason Debs is rather fat  Best keep an eye on them to see if he goes in and chases her out! :D

hi guys, thanks for all your kind comments!!

update:

the female has been trapped until this morning when i checked and she was out, i looked in the cave and there are no eggs but im not worried as they always seem to do this. she is often trapped in his cave for days, nothing happens.... then when she comes out the next night normally he steals the other males cave and the eggs are laid pretty much straight away in there. not sure why this happens, perhaps she doesnt like my alphas cave... anyway il keep you posted! hope im right

FAO Sam,

how old were your fry when you took them out the fry trap and into a tank of their own? cheers mate!

all the best,

andrew

They are 14 weeks old now and I have only just moved them to their own tank, mainly because I have just had another 9 hatch, otherwise I probably would have left them in there a bit longer as they seemed happy enough.

All the best :)

Hi andrew, maybe you could ask Edlund if he'll kindly make you a cave. They're just testing out your caves, and obviously don't like them  Anyway, best of luck and we hope to hear some good news soon. Dawn

Sounds like they are indeed ready to become parents. Just get the water clean and you'll be laughing Andrew ;)
