thats not a 98 - It is a L046 that has been fighting ;)

I agree with SmithRC, that pattern has come from scarring that has healed up, McEve has got a fish like that as well (a female I think).

Stripes never recovered after either mating or fighting.

Essentially, L98 is identical in genes with L46 because the offspring of L98 and L46 in Germany bred by Andre looks 100% like L46... So, people argue that L98 is nothing more than L46 with another kind of pattern in
their appearance. This is supported by their eyes: if you observe their (L46's & L98's) eyes, they are the same (which is one very important feature to differentiate L46 from, e.g., L173,
where L173 has been defined to be different from L46 by experts in Germany, L173's eyes are very different from L46's).

Anyhow, I would be interested to see the samples that you have with similar patterns as the one i just posted... :D
