Post by czechzebra »

Hello all zebra breeders!

I live in czech and want some help if these zebra is male or female?
The behaviour is this zebra always hang out in a corner and do not go into caves.
Do it look like sexually mature?

Thank you for the help!

It is mature enough to have its tube out. Based on that and the odnotal growth, I would say its a male. I could be wrong.
Subordinate males may not claim a cave.
Whether it is sexually mature is hard to say without knowing what size it is.
What makes the common person uncommon is common sense.

I have only for zebras in one 54 liter aquarium and there is 2 caves. the other zebras are smaller and you can see they are males and start
to hide in caves. this one only want to be in corner and protect the area. am not sure about age this ones are suppose to be wild caught.

Thanks for the help.

6 cm is getting close to breeding size. Another cm or so should do it.

I have always tried to have one cave per fish regardless of sex. not all males claim a cave but they still use them. females will never claim one but they also my use one to shelter/hide in for shorter periods.

In general, males have longer pointier tubes while females are sorter and much more rounded. Males may have a black spot under their tube.

By behaviour can this one be a female?
Since there is no dominant males in the aquarium and this zebra never
want to take a cave just hanging out in a corner.

or it need to grow 1-2 centimeter more to be breeding behaviour?
