Finally! My Wild Caughts. Male? Female?

We all know how difficult it is to identify the sex of these fish, so please post a picture in here and we'll try to help you (or at least give an educated guess!).

I would not make a guess from the above pics. There needs to be more detail. I like to see the underside so there sex organs show. I also like to see the leading edge of the pectorals for odontile growth as well as those on either side of the head.

I actually prefer to rely on behavior as the strongest indication because I don't trust my ability to use physical characteristics. But that means they must be about old enough to spawn. The last 2 wild caught I bought were supposed to be 2 males. While in quarantine I noticed one immediately caved and kept that cave while the other one tended to ignore the other available cave and would hang out under the wood or in the rocks mostly. This sure screamed female to me and when I finally took pics to sex them, I discovered I was correct. The seller has sold many 100s of these fish over the years, so if he can get it wrong, anybody can.

If you poke around the forum here long enough you will find lots of old posts where fish firmly believed to be one sex or the other later proved to be the opposite.
What makes the common person uncommon is common sense.

:Hi I agree with TTA about better pics needed for sexing, don't be dis-heartened if you think you have 2 males as I have bought males that turned out to be females that were oh so hairy.
I only know for sure I have a female when I see eggs  Keep up the water changes, feed them well & if you maybe had a trapping you never know soon. :wink

Agree with har_eh, 2 males.
If you put alot of caves around in the aquarium, you will see they both laying in a cave.
