5 for sexing if big enough please

We all know how difficult it is to identify the sex of these fish, so please post a picture in here and we'll try to help you (or at least give an educated guess!).

5 for sexing if big enough please

Post by Joby »

This group was bought about 18 months ago. The smallest were 8 months old and the largest a year old so they are approx 2 and 2.5 years old respctively. The smallest are just over 2" TL

Hope the pics are clear enough and please excuse my rubbish paintshop numbering

1 looks like a possible female and rest of them look like males.

These threads are always interesting. Can you guys mention which one you think is a female and why? What characteristics about the rest indicate males?

Thanks for sharing,
Glen

No 1 is thought to be female, even though not the best pic to see.
The other males are sexed by head shape, bristles on fins & amount & length of whiskers.
If you click on the drop down section of home it shows you a section of sexing fish & lots of other information.
Hope this helps.
