Can you help sex these?

We all know how difficult it is to identify the sex of these fish, so please post a picture in here and we'll try to help you (or at least give an educated guess!).

Can you help sex these?

Post by carl s. »

Hi everyone. I need some help sexing these. Got these in Oct. 2008, wild caught. All are around 3 inches, some a bit bigger, some a little smaller. When I purchased these I believed these were two pair. Others agreed with me on another forum. What do you think?

Yes, definitely two pair. And very nice ones! Did you get them from Julie? Since you're so close and all?

Yes Barbie, these are from Julie. Thanks for looking at them for me. I guess I'll start being more aggressive in trying to breed them.

I didn't actually look to see which fish they said was which number. I agree that 3 is male, but 4 is female. Definitely give them some caves and rains ;).

So Twinspots_goby you think I have 3 males and 1 female? And Barbie, you think 3 is a male. I thought 3 had a very round head even though it is hairy. I am confused! I wish this was easier!! Anyone else with opinions?

Sexing is never easy & no exact science as i have females that look like males & a big plump male that looks female!
I would guess 1 female & the rest males, I could be wrong.
Good luck with breeding.
