Find the lady... :-)

We all know how difficult it is to identify the sex of these fish, so please post a picture in here and we'll try to help you (or at least give an educated guess!).

I wouldn't ever take my word for it when it comes to sexing zebs but I'd deffo say at least 2 females from my experience of sexing other females and what I have read! Lucky you having so many!

Well...maybe it's just the quality of these pictures...
Or during photograph process...

Some of them don't look like in a good and healthy condition...
What do you guys think? :?:

What makes you say that ?

I know some are a little red from fighting.... but I don't think they are thin etc ?

some do look pale - but I know what they are like to try and catch to take photos - It'll just be stress :)

what size tank are they in?

I had a year with our mature group and no breeding until I sold our alpha male.
He was too busy fighting with other males to be able to keep a cave of his own to sort out spawning... Since we got rid of our alpha - 2nd in line has stepped up and spawned with our hairy female.... twice now.

The rest of the zebs seem happy with the hierarchy and there has been very little fighting since (until I added a 2nd mature female - they the girls started fighting - she has since been rehomed and is also spawning in her new home)

It might be too many zebs...

I did wonder if I should split them up.... they are currently in Aqua One AR980 .... 100cm's x 50cm x60cm ... 215 Litres capacity with about 20 caves, bogwood etc... it has 5 micro power heads with air... to keep high areation and flow ... It did have sand, but I've just stripped it down and plan to rebuild without the sand....

I don't really like the filter, as I'm not convinced turn over is great, so I might stick one of my Eheim's on it.....

but been a little distracted setting up 750litre Malawi tank....

Now I have a view of sexes from here I can think about splitting them up a bit....

Is there a view at what size they become mature enough to breed ?
