my zebs darting up and down glass on tank ?

If it's about fish in general, or it's a little bit random, then this is the place to post it.

my zebs darting up and down glass on tank ?

Post by craigzeb »

i have had my 5 zebs in the tank together since july last year they always hiding around caves and moving about in and out of rocks quite quiet usually but i had nodded off and then woke up to see 3 of them flying around 1 up and down the front on the glass and two sort of doing a relay race up the back end of the tank :loldude: i thought i was seeing things at 1st but i have just this min sat here and watched them for a few minutes doing this water levels are all fine and clear ???????
is this normal ?? is it sign of something all help and comments welcome

I seen this more common with new fishes.

But I have also seen it done once in a while by older fishes.

From my exp. there wasn't anything wrong. It seems like the fish just wanted to keep swimming (perhaps due to high aggression levels at the current place). The fishes all went back to normal after a few hours or even days.

Do note, I have not seen this with my plecos.

If you had moon lighting you might notice that adult zebras will be out and about and more actively so when its dark. The daytime frolics I have seen in my tanks were most common among juveniles. It was almost as it they came out to play. I would watch them from across the room but if I tried to move closer to the tank they would all bolt for cover fast.

This was not an ongoing behavior but seemed to occur in any given tank for several days to a few weeks and then it stops for good.
What makes the common person uncommon is common sense.
