Colour of gravel/sand for Zebs

If it's about fish in general, or it's a little bit random, then this is the place to post it.

Colour of gravel/sand for Zebs

Post by Zoeshiloh »

I just wondered what colour substrate people use in their Zeb setups? All the articles I have read pretty much agree that it should be sand-sized particles but I wondered if the colour of the gravel affects the colour of the zebs at all - some people have said if you use white gravel it brings the white out more, others say you should use black as they like dark areas. Then some sources say plain sand is the best. I just wondered what everyone thinks.

Up until recently I had no substrate at all just bare bottomed but now have play sand in there. Can't really see a difference in colour for the zebs though since changing :dunno:

When I set up my tank I used play sand and it looked great, but after 24 hours of the filter running it had all shifted to one end of the tank - now that I didn't like, so I went bare bottom and removed it all before I got the fish, and they seem just fine
