If it's about fish in general, or it's a little bit random, then this is the place to post it.

Hi all.
We've just move some of our fry to another yank (along with an adult pair)
anyway - I've had my eye on this little beastie since he pop out of his dad cave a few months back...
Does he look like he could be an "L098" or "L173" ??

No i don't think so, i think his stripes will "grow" in time.
I spoke to a german breeder who had 2 fry which developed their stripes after 6 months, they were almost completely white before that.
Greetings,
John

This "wee beastie" is about 3 months old.
So far all of our fry have started lines after just a couple of weeks...
In an odd way I hope he doesn't grow stripes

Some of my fry have the broken lines too. The black line will eventually grow in, but they don't nessesary have to connect. It's in the gene, that makes me wonder if my female was relative to yours heh.

supposing the fry did not develop its stripes and someone wanted to breed this fish, would the offspring be spotted also?
what would this mean for the zebra plec if this where to happen? would it be a bad thing for the hobby?
thanks
dave

I'll be hanging on to the little beauty so in a few years i might be able to let you know - I doubt they would be spotty though.

do you think this could be how new varients are created in the wild. if a female saw a spotty male as having more potential as a mate , could this create a new varient.
hope im not talking jibberish
regards

Sorry, I've found the picture, but didn't have a chance to crop it and I am at work now.
Anyway, I don't think it'll be spots either. It'll most likely be broken lines, just like the wavy line for the L098.
Edit:
OK, I am home now. Here are the pictures:
Here's the same one or sibbling:
