By now most know I use smaller tanks for my zebs. I keep 11 breeding adults and up to 50+ fry of assorted sizes in a 30 gal. breeder tank (about 113L). I have always maintained it works for me because of the amount of cover in the tank. In addition it is well filtered and gets regular weekly water changes. One thing that helps is I have a "dead" area where a lot of the junk accumulates and becomes easy to remove.
I also routinely have two small growout tanks- a 10 gal which usually holds about 20 zebs and a 15 gal with about 30. With the exception of one incident which I think resulted from a contaminant getting into a tank, I have had minimal natural losses in any of these tanks.
However, my setups are also a function of available space and if I had more I might well be inclined to use a larger tank. Bear in mind that this is just how I do things and is not necessarily the "right", "best" or only way to do things.

What makes the common person uncommon is common sense.
