two male in the same cave?

If it's about fish in general, or it's a little bit random, then this is the place to post it.

two male in the same cave?

Post by chanettt »

my alpha male left his cave and his fry to trap in another cave with the beta male. (the near one) is that usual? now i just not sure that the young one i always tought is a male or female? but from its behavior is like a male. it has its own cave and hang the tale out of the entrance all the time. however, from what i see today, the alpha male is on the bottom and young one is on the top. (like riding a horse) so anyone with this experience before please correct my understanding. :?

same experience here... our beta male kept trapping our alpha and getting beaten badly (hence he was the beta) but he kept trying.

We managed to avoid the death though - buy selling the alpha :?

Sameish thing happens in my tank my alpha male has his own cave on the far right of the tank but does move over to the other side and kick out one other male from his cave out on a regular basis it seems to depend on where the females are hanging out. The 2 biggest males had a massive scrap this morning it was all over in a few minuets and back to normal almost straight away I always panic I don't like to see them fight but I think it is all posturing really I do leave them to get on with it and have had no injurys to date . The only thing that I did do is when I moved them to the bgger tank last year I used a massive piece of bogwood to devide the tank into two areas they skip over it if they want which they do too fight !!!!LOL
