Hello all
I know this is a very diverse website and i see that there are members from all around europe and the world so im hoping that somone might be able to help me.
In July i will be travelling to Poland by car (from uk) and on the return journey im hoping to buy some new Zebra's. We will be going through Belgium, Netherlands and Germany and its here that im hoping for some advice or maybe some directions to places or breeders where, if its not too out of the way i could stop over and get some fish. I dont mind getting juveniles as i am running on a budget.
any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks fishfly

Hi there, In Belgium there is a shop where you can buy some juveniles
http://www.hustinx-discus.com/
There is also a shop in the Netherlands where you can buy some zebras:

Maybe this will help you, good luck with your roadtrip

A slight issue has arisen
Getting fish might not be a problem, but i wonder now whether there would be any issues passing through customs on my return into the uk.
Im not exactly sure how it works would i need a permit???
Have any members on this site who are based in the uk ever travelled abroad to collect fish.....surely there must be someone....

Hi fishfly,
I found this regarding import to the UK:
Hope this helps.
Then I found this, referred by http://www.cefas.co.uk/fhi/movements.htm :

I found this regarding import to the UK:
http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/p ... p?news=868anyone who wishes to import fish into the UK or export them to other countries, including showing them abroad or in Ireland, should contact the Fish Health Inspectorate for advice on certification requirements
Hope this helps.

I think I might give them (the Fish Health Inspectorate) a call just to be on the safe side though, as these pages give contradicting information...5. Tropical warm water fish intended to be kept permanently in aquaria Live Fish, Eggs and Gametes Any (No movement documents required).
Hi Ronad
The trip never happened, but i did do some research.
Zebs are a warm water tropical fish and in a country like england (and most if not all european countries) it is not classified as being tropical, therefore any fish released into the wild, would almost certainly die. In such instances licences are not needed to transport these fish, certainly not by car anway. Bringing fish over via flying might be a bit different but i dont really think so, it just cost more.
I also did manage to find some forums on the net with discussions involving this but i cant remember them now, it was ages ago.
If you were planning a trip and wanted to buy some zebs on the way, there's not problem.
